To understand my target audience, I conducted a competitive analysis of popular meditation apps, including Calm, Headspace, and Insight Timer. This analysis was complemented by a deep dive into user reviews and forums to uncover common frustrations and unmet needs.
Key Findings:
Through my research, several key themes emerged:
Limited Personalization: While most apps offer content categorized by topic (e.g., sleep, anxiety), they lack true personalization. Recommendations are static and don't adapt to a user's real-time mood or long-term behavioral patterns.
A "One-Size-Fits-All" Approach: The dominant apps, like Calm and Headspace, offer extensive libraries but can be overwhelming or feel rigid. They often force a specific journey on the user rather than allowing for flexible, day-to-day needs.
The "Community Gap": Many apps treat meditation as a solitary practice and lack features that foster a sense of community or shared experience. This limits user motivation and the ability to find social support.
Visual Design & Moodboards:
Based on these findings, I created a moodboard to visually represent the core values of SereneFlow. The moodboard combines a feeling of serenity and nature with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. It features images of soft morning light, calm water, textured stones, and minimalist interiors, all intended to evoke a sense of peace and clarity. The goal was to move away from the hyper-vibrant colors of some competitors and create an app that feels like a quiet escape.
